Overview
When Voicestream was bought by germany-based T-Mobile, they hired frogdesign to completely overhaul their website to reflect the T-Mobile branding. I was involved from the project inception, through to eventually deploying the redesigned site and supporting and extending the site over the following year.
Roles
Design validation, prototyping and html/css template development. Working with a team of designers and both back and front end coders, I lead the development of the client-side code for public-facing and extranet sites, new and existing content conversion and integration with the ASP back-end code.
Highlights
- Developed a process for content inventory, tracking status and progress through to delivery.
- Developed fully cross-referenced design specifications and code/asset library for T-Mobile.com and related web properties, featuring automatically generated live code previews, zipped templates and snippets with all dependancies, related asset downloads.
- Pioneering implementation of semi-transparent dhtml drop-down menus on a high profile commercial site.
- Developed design degradation strategy to formalize the optimization and degradation of the design in supported and un-supported browsers.
- Managed cross-browser testing of all delivered pages.
Technologies
- Cross-browser, backwards-compatible templates (html, css, javascript)
- Perl (offline batch processing including generation of dependancies lists, assets zip files)
- ASP (Classic)
